We believe in providing our staff with a work environment that is happy & harmonious. One that helps them become their best professionally so that they can achieve their goals. Here are just a few of the things that we do:
Professional development and training is a huge part of what we’re about at Masterton District Council. We’re committed to giving our team every opportunity to upskill and progress in their role. We regularly run training workshops on everything from time management, to leadership, to managing stress. We help you to develop your career plan and we make sure every individual has a professional development plan in place so we can support your growth.
We also offer He Korowai Wairua cultural workshops which aim to heighten awareness of Tikanga Maori protocols and practices in council business and give an introduction to Te Reo Maori as well.
We also reward great work and celebrating it Council wide. Our internal newsletter gives everyone the chance to shout out those members of their team who have gone above and beyond to do amazing work in our community. We make sure that everyone gets recognised for the great work that they do.
We also provide these key benefits:
- 5 weeks annual leave for all including casuals & fixed termers
- 10 days sick leave for permanent staff
- Medical Insurance & Income Protection Insurance for permanent staff
- 5% Superannuation for permanent staff
We have an active social club and also offer our team the chance to participate in extracurricular activities like Inter-Council Sports Tournament, Wairarapa IronMaori, Business House Tennis and Relay for Life to name a few.
