There are lots of great events in Masterton during the holiday season.
Christmas Parade
We encourage local groups and businesses to create fantastic floats for our Christmas Parade. The parade this year will be held Saturday 30th November at 12.30pm (assemble from 11am).
There are four categories you can enter:
- Community Group
- Commercial
- Sports Group
- Education
Prizes provided by Trust House are: $500 cash for winner of each category, and $250 cash for runner up of each category.
If you need paint for your float you can contact to contact sponsorship@resene.co.nz
For safety reasons, a minimum of two people must be walking beside each float.
Christmas Lights
Each year we put up Christmas decorations in the CBD and illuminate the trees in the Masterton Town Square and Library Square.

We run a register so that anyone who is decorating their property or business can sign up to be listed on our map and make it easy for the public to find them.
Christmas Family Afternoon in QE Park
Each year we organise events in the park for our residents to enjoy. Depending on the year this may be music, markets, family activities, or a combination of all of this festive fun.
In 2023 we presented a Family Afternoon in QE Park, with a special performance from the JDDC dance school, live music, food trucks, and the waka tākaro play trailer kept the kids entertained.
