Masterton dog owners can now apply for funding to pay most of the cost of de-sexing their four-legged friends. Dog owners are asked to contribute $100 towards the cost and Council will pay the remaining amount.
The programme has been made possible through funding from Trust House.
Team Leader Animal and Bylaw Services Gordon Crawley, says “we know un-fixed dogs are more likely to roam and create litters of unwanted puppies”
“De-sexing costs can be prohibitive for some owners. This funding makes it more accessible. It also means lower registration fees and gives owners the option to apply for Responsible Dog Owner status.”
The campaign will run until the funding has been exhausted.
Applications can be made through the Council website.
