Speed Signs
For the Record
The Times-Age asked why a speed sign on Ngaumutawa Road was facing the wrong direction and were provided with the following information:
At the time this query was made, the Council contractor was already on the way to correct it.
When heavy transport operators (house movers, wide loads etc) use the route, they are able to temporarily remove the speeds signs to facilitate movement.
At times, these are replaced without checking the direction the signs are facing is correct (it generally happens at night when roads are quieter). In this case, three out of four signs were correct when repositioned.
The latest occurrence appears to have been last night.
