Three Waters Better Off Funding

The Times-Age asked us about the government removing Tranche 2 of the Three Waters Better Off funding – specifically the impacts on any planned work, and any impact on Cockburn St or Colombo Road. Our response follows:

The following can be attributed to Chief Executive David Hopman

Masterton District Council had only made plans for tranche one funding. These were made in consultation with the community in July 2022. The majority of that funding was dedicated to targeted wastewater renewals and that funding will continue.

Tranche Two funding was always going to be a Long-Term Plan consultation topic for our communities, so no plans are currently in place that will be impacted by Government’s decision to withdraw this.

Government’s decision will have no impact on our work on Colombo Road or Cockburn Street.
