Wairarapa Economic Development Strategy

The Wairarapa Economic Development Strategy (WEDS) was developed to maintain momentum in the region’s economy and plan for a future that allows for growth. The WEDS, refreshed in 2021, is a vision seeks to capture and galvanise the spirit that will lead the Wairarapa forward. The vision for the refreshed WEDS is: "Thrive Wairarapa" - Striving for our community thriving.

The WEDS focuses on the range of economic opportunities that we have in our region, from education and skills through to tourism and primary industries (and everything between).

The WEDS is a region wide strategy involving the three district councils, Greater Wellington Regional Council, local iwi, Destination Wairarapa, Business Wairarapa and WellingtonNZ.
