Masterton District Council has filled two key roles as part of the Civic Facility project.
At an extraordinary meeting on Wednesday, the Council agreed to appoint SGL Ltd to undertake the capital raising for the project, and RPS Ltd as the quantity surveyor.
The Council agreed, in June, as part of the 2021-31 Long-Term Plan to proceed with the project with at least $4 million of external funding.
The LTP includes provision for the Council to take out a 50-year loan for $26.8 million for the project, but this amount could be reduced if more than $4 million in external funding is raised.
“Both of these roles are key in delivering the Civic Facility,” Chair of the Civic Facility Project Committee Cr Tina Nixon said.
“The appointment of SGL puts a focus on raising the external funding the Council agreed upon in June.
“Appointing a quantity surveyor means we will have oversight and control of potential costs from the outset.”
The Council hopes to be in a position to appoint an architect for the Civic Facility in the next few weeks.
