We’re currently working on our 2018-2028 Long-Term Plan. All Councils around New Zealand (78 in total) are required to publish a Long-Term Plan under the Local Government Act 2002. Essentially it’s our key planning document that sets out the vision and outcomes the Council wants to achieve for the Masterton community.
It details what we intend to do over the next 10 years, including the services we will provide, the projects we will undertake, how much we will spend, how we will pay for everything and how we will measure success.
So, where do you come in? Public consultation on the draft plan closed 30 April. We’re now going through all the submissions. Thank you who to all those who took the time to make a submission.
If you’d like some more information on the key issues we’re considering, our Consultation Document gives a good overview.

Shaping our Town Centre
In addition to consultation on the broader Long-Term Plan, we asked for specific feedback on ideas for rejuvenating Masterton’s town centre.
Tell us what you think
The public consultation period on the draft Long-Term Plan is now CLOSED. However, we will be holding public hearings in late May to give people the chance to present their feedback to Council in person.
