We’re currently working on our 2018-2028 Long-Term Plan. All Councils around New Zealand (78 in total) are required to publish a Long-Term Plan under the Local Government Act 2002. Essentially it’s our key planning document that sets out the vision and outcomes the Council wants to achieve for the Masterton community.
It details what we intend to do over the next 10 years, including the services we will provide, the projects we will undertake, how much we will spend, how we will pay for everything and how we will measure success.
So, where do you come in? Well, this is your chance to tell us what you think. Consultation is open 29 March – 30 April.
Our Consultation Document gives a good overview of the key issues we’re seeking feedback on. There is also additional information supporting this Consultation Document, which is all available on this page.

Shaping our Town Centre
In addition to consultation on the broader Long-Term Plan, we’re asking for specific feedback on ideas for rejuvenating Masterton’s town centre.
Tell us what you think
There are three easy ways to tell us what you think.
Soon you’ll be receiving our Long-Term Plan Consultation Document in your letterbox, if you haven’t already. As well as details about all the key issues we’re considering, it has a submission form for you to fill out your thoughts and ideas and send back to us.
You can also pick up a copy from the Council offices at 161 Queen Street or the District Library at 54 Queen Street or access the forms below. Consultation is open until 30 April so make sure you get your thoughts back to us before then.
You can also submit online.
We are asking for feedback on our overall plan, but we are also giving people the opportunity to give us a little more feedback on our ideas for a rejuvenation of the town centre. Feel free to fill out just one, or both.
We’re holding a number of meet and greet events with Council representatives over the month of April. There will also be the opportunity to come and speak at formal hearings in late May. Come along to one of the sessions below for a chat.
