Casual swimming will be temporarily unavailable at Masterton’s Trust House Recreation Centre as maintenance work continues on the complex.

Over the three weeks between 17th June and 7th July air conditioning ducting in the ceiling will be better secured, lights in the rear pool hall upgraded and water damaged panels in the foyer ceiling repaired.

The work follows significant upgrades at the centre which has included putting in a new PVC liner in the outdoor lido pool to prevent water loss.

Acting Community Facilities and Activities Manager Aaron Bacher said the Council had worked to ensure competitive swimmers could still access pool facilities.

“Because the work requires scaffolding, both pools need to be emptied. However, we’ve been able to arrange for the work to be staged so that competitive swimmers can still train,” Mr Bacher said.

“As only a single pool will be available at any given time, the pools have been fully booked for training and will be closed for casual swimming. We apologise for any inconvenience.”

The pool will be reopened in time for the school holidays at the start of July.
