MetService New Zealand has issued a severe wind warning for the Wairarapa and Tararua districts. It's a category 'Orange' warning, which means strong wind gusts are forecast, which could damage trees, powerlines, and unsecured structures. Driving may be hazardous, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles. Severe gale northwesterlies are forecast to gust at 120 km/h in exposed places.
The severe wind warning is valid from 4:00 pm Thursday 14 September to 4:00 am Friday 15 September.
