Sprinkler ban returns
An extended spell without significant rain has forced Masterton District Council to tighten its water restriction, limiting watering to hand-held hoses only.
The Waingawa River, the source of Masterton’s drinking water, has again fallen to a flow rate below 1,300 litres per second, the point at which sprinklers can no longer be used.
Rain forecast for next week may allow the restriction to be eased, and the Council will aim to act quickly in response to increased flows.
