Rubbish Collection and Waste Disposal
Kerbside Rubbish Collection will be one day later in the weeks following Christmas and New Year.
Riversdale and Castlepoint will have twice-weekly kerbside collections on Mondays and Fridays, from 23 December until 27 January.
Transfer Stations
All transfer stations are closed on Christmas and New Year’s days.
Masterton Transfer Station is open from 10 am to 4 pm on December 26/27 and January 2/3. Normal hours all other days.
Castlepoint
Castlepoint will have twice-weekly kerbside collections from 23 December until 27 January on Mondays and Fridays. For safety reasons, glass must be in the recycling crates or it will not be collected. Larger volumes of cans or glass should be taken to the transfer station or the recycling container set up near the toilets at the north end of the beach.
Please ensure your rubbish and recycling is out on the kerbside by 7:30am on collection day in official Masterton District Council rubbish bags (available from the Castlepoint Store). If you are renting out your property, please make sure that renters are aware of rubbish collection and disposal options.
Kerbside collection will be as normal on Monday 26 December, Monday 2 January and Wellington Anniversary Day holiday, Monday 23 January.
The transfer station will be closed on Sunday 25 December and Sunday 1 January. It will be open as usual on Wednesdays from 9am to 12noon and Sundays from 11am to 3pm, resuming Sunday 8 January.
For visitors, the transfer station can be found on the Masterton-Castlepoint Road, less than 2km north of Castlepoint. If a non-council rubbish bag is used, the cost of dropping it at the transfer station is $8.
It is not permitted to dump household rubbish in kerbside litter bins. These sites are monitored and illegal dumping may result in a fine.

Riversdale
