28 February 2023
A sodden February has allowed Masterton District Councl to lift all water restrictions heading into the official start of autumn tomorrow, 1 March.
Restrictions were introduced on 26 January, in line with the requirements of the Council’s consent to take water from the Waingawa River.
When the river’s flow rate falls below 2,000 litres per second, sprinkler use is limited to alternate days.
This flow rate did not last long, but to avoid making mulltiple changes to restricitions, these were maintained until the end of February.
In previous years, restrictions have lasted until 31 March.
