Home Health Assessment Kit
Arotakenga Oranga Kāinga
Dry and warm homes are healthier and more comfortable. Cold, damp and mouldy houses can lead to serious health problems, like respiratory illness and cardiovascular disease. They are also much harder and more expensive to heat. Check your home for moisture, leaks, draughts and more with our home health assessment toolkit.
Borrow the kit for free from the Masterton Library (standard library charges apply if the kit is lost or missing). The kit is also available from the Carterton and Greytown libraries.
Your kit will come with a user guide or you can watch our series of instructional videos below that will show you how to use each of the tools.
Firewood Giveaway
We’re giving away four loads of firewood to help you burn better this winter. Dry wood burns brighter, keeps your home warmer and creates less smoke which is better for our air quality.
To enter the competition you just need to tell us the ideal moisture content for your firewood. The answer can be found on our Instagram feed or in the How-To video for the firewood moisture level meter in the playlist below. You can enter by:
- Emailing us the answer at communications@mstn.govt.nz = 1 entry
- Tagging a friend with the answer in the comments of the Instagram post = 1 entry
- Sharing the Instagram post to your story = 5 entries (make sure you tag us @mastertondc so we can see it)
