Civic Facility Working Group appointments named
Masterton District Council has confirmed an independent Chair and an independent community representative for its Civic Facility Working Group following the adoption of the 2022/23 Annual Plan.
Ian Collier, JP, has been named as Chair, and Rachael Dean, MNZM, as an independent community representative, with a second representative yet to be appointed. Two iwi representatives will also be appointed shortly.
Ian Collier, former Regional Affairs Manager for Air New Zealand, has held a number of senior management positions across several industries, and is now focussed on governance and contract roles within regional development, community-based projects and leadership coaching. He is currently a member of the Hood Strategic Advisory Group
Rachael Dean – current Independent Chair, Audit and Risk Committee for Westland District Council – is a governance, finance, risk and management specialist who brings with her extensive board and governance experience. She became a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to governance and the community.
Both have residences in Masterton.
Chief Executive David Hopman said: “This Working Group replaces the previous Civic Facility Steering Committee, which was dissolved at the Masterton District Council 29 June council meeting.
“The Working Group will review the rationale for the progression of the project from 2016 to the current state so the new Council can make informed decisions about next steps.”
The inaugural meeting of the Civic Facility Working Group will take place following confirmation of the second independent member.
