Streetlight Failures

The Times-Age asked for information about streetlight failures that affected a large part of southern Masterton, and parts Lansdowne.

As previously advised, the issues with streetlights are related to the power supply network, not the lights themselves.

Mercury is responsible for the supply of power to the lights, and works through its contractor PowerCo to resolve issues.

We appreciate that the failure of streetlights can be frustrating for residents, as it is for the Council.

Council staff regularly drive through areas to check lights are working and are in contact with Mercury as we are made aware of issues, and to confirm efforts are being made to address these.

Mercury has been asked to investigate and provide an explanation of what measures can be taken to enhance network resilience.
