New General Manager – Infrastructure & Assets welcomed to Council
Maseina (Maz) Koneferenisi has joined Masterton District Council as General Manager Infrastructure & Assets.
Maz most recently worked as Regional Establishment Director, Water Reform for the Department of Internal Affairs, National Transition Unit, and was previously the Chief Executive Officer for Lutra Ltd.
Past roles have included Chief Operating Officer at Lutra, Principal Advisor- Business Performance at Wellington Water Ltd, Assets Manager for Greater Wellington Regional Council, and Water Services Manager for Horowhenua District Council.
Masterton District Council Chief Executive Kym Fell said Maz was a great fit for the role.
“She has more than 30 years’ experience in local and regional councils, and the public sector, and great knowledge and experience in strategy, leadership, management and implementing change.
“I am sure she will add real value to the Council’s Executive Leadership Team.”
The Infrastructure and Assets team at Masterton District Council is responsible for water, wastewater and stormwater, as well as roading, property and parks, projects, and Hood Aerodrome.
Maz said the breadth of this role was one of the key attractions of the job.
“I was attracted by the diversity. It involves working with a wide range of infrastructure and that is something that appeals to me. These are areas which directly impact ratepayers.
“I have been part of large councils, the private sector, and central government. Doing meaningful work that helps improve the lives of others is important to me, as is a sense of family and belonging. I feel MDC ticks all the boxes for me.
“Having come from the water reform programme, I am still passionate about being a part of the solution in this space. There are headwinds coming for many councils that will require collaboration to build momentum and progress – this is the sort of work I really enjoy.”
