Genesis Energy’s Proposed Castle Hill Wind Farm

The Times-Age asked for an update on the resource consent for Genesis Energy’s proposed Castle Hill Wind Farm project.

The original resource consent was due to lapse in late June 2023.

As allowed under s37 of the RMA, an extension of time was sought three months before the expiry date.

Genesis has also applied for a variation under s127 of the RMA to reduce the scope of the work on the wind farm.

The four councils involved (Tararua District Council, Masterton District Council, Horizons Regional Council, and Greater Wellington Regional Council) have yet to consider the applications as they have asked for more information, under s92 of the RMA.

Once the required information has been received, the four councils will have an independent commission to consider the application for the extension of time under s37.
