Toxic algae blooms in Ruamāhanga River

Red alert warnings are in place for the Ruamāhanga River from Double Bridges to Kokotau, due to moderate amounts of toxic algae mats on the river’s edge. People are advised not to swim or let dogs near the water, including at Te Ore Ore and The Cliffs. Even a small amount of algae can kill a dog.

Road Closure - Ngaumutawa Road

KiwiRail advises that Ngaumutawa Road, Masterton, will be closed at the rail crossing - night and day - from midnight on Sunday 12 January to 6pm Friday 17 January. This is to enable major excavation under the level crossing. All queries about the work should be addressed to KiwiRail.
