Toxic algae blooms in Ruamāhanga River

Red alert warnings are in place for the Ruamāhanga River from Double Bridges to Kokotau, due to moderate amounts of toxic algae mats on the river’s edge. People are advised not to swim or let dogs near the water, including at Te Ore Ore and The Cliffs. Even a small amount of algae can kill a dog.

Road Closure - Renall Street

KiwiRail advises that Renall Street, Masterton, will be closed to traffic and pedestrians, day and night, at the railway crossing from 6am, Tuesday 21 January, to 6pm Saturday, 25 January, as an upgrade to the level crossing is carried out. Both road and footpath will be closed. All queries about the work should be addressed to KiwiRail.
