Land Information Memorandum (LIM)

A Land Information Memorandum (LIM) is a comprehensive report on a property. You can request an urgent LIM which will be processed within 5 working days, or a standard LIM which will be processed within 10 working days. See our fees and charges for a full list of planning fees.

Applying for a LIM

To apply for a LIM, fill in the application form below.

For us to give you the correct information you will need to provide this information:

  • Property address,
  • Legal description,
  • Valuation number (if known),
  • Current owner,
  • Property size; and
  • The fee listed on the application form. This needs to be paid before we can start processing your application.

Paying for your LIM

Online

When you complete our online form, you will be issued a LIM number by our planning team.

You can pay your LIM online using a credit/debit card or DPS account2account internet banking.

If you haven't been issued a LIM number and would like your application to start processing right away, you can make an internet banking payment to:

In-Person

You can visit our Customer Service Centre at 161 Queen Street to pay in cash or by EFTPOS at the front counter.

Cancellation

Cancellation within 24 hours - 80% refunded

Cancellation within 48 hours - 60% refunded

Cancellation after 48 hours - No refund

Yes, you can still complete a paper form if you would prefer.

Land Information Memorandum (LIM) Form (PDF, 147KB)

When you have completed the form you can drop it into the Customer Service Centre with the required fee, or email it to planningadmin@mstn.govt.nz with confirmation of your internet banking payment.

A LIM contains:

  • Any special feature of the land the Council knows about including:
  1. The downhill movement
  2. Gradual sinking or wearing away of any land
  3. Falling rock or earth
  4. Flooding of any type and
  5. Possible contamination or hazardous substances
  • Information the Council has about private and public stormwater and sewerage drains
  • Rates information
  • Any consents, notices, orders or requisitions affecting the land or buildings
  • District Plan classifications that relate to the land or buildings
  • Any other classifications on the land or buildings notified to the Council by network utility operators in relation to the Building Act 2004
  • Any other information Council deems relevant and
  • A copy of the Certificate of Title
