Masterton has several playgrounds throughout the district.
Kids Own Playground
Our premier playground is the Kids Own Playground in Queen Elizabeth Park. It was built by the community over six days as a collaborative project between Masterton District Council, local businesses, and service clubs. The playground equipment includes swings, slides, a spider web climbing net, a flying fox, and accessible equipment for wheelchair users and buggies. It is appropriate for children of all ages but small children should be fully supervised inside the Tiny Tot section.
Burling Park
Burling Park playground was refurbished and expanded in 2021. Play equipment includes a double flying fox, basket swing, and modular active play system incorporating a climbing net, overhead, stepping stones, balance walk, and slide.
The existing swing set was also refurbished to include two adult swing seats, a half-bucket child swing seat and an expression swing seat which includes a baby bucket and a parent seat that lets parent and baby swing in tandem facing one another.
Henley Lake Playground
Henley Lake has a children's playground that you can access from the Colombo Road carpark. The lake walk to the North East of the main lake also features larger items like parallel bars, monkey bars, and balance beams that can be used by people of all ages.
