Impounded Dogs
Ngā Kuri i Pāunatia
Dogs that are roaming, waiting to be re-homed, or are found injured are taken to the animal shelter by the Animal Services team. It’s important to register and microchip your dogs, these details will help us identify your dog and get them back to you quickly.
If your dog has been impounded you will have to pay a fee to release them, you can do this online or at the Customer Service Centre, 161 Queen Street. Once impounding fees have been paid, we will organise for your dog to be released.
If a dog is not claimed within 7 days, it will be re-homed.
